Fire Extinguishing Hydrant
The system conveying the water which is the most important part of fire extinguishing by spreading over the area, is named as fire extinguishing hydrant.
Fire extinguishing hydrant which assists in spraying the water all over the area; is of importance for intervening from the outside in fires which can’t be bring under control as a result of first intervention during fire danger. It is used with the purpose of cooling the outer surface of the fire zone and preventing the fire from jumping to the surrounding area.
There are 2 different types produced as underground and aboveground. Both 2 types are designed according to TS 2821 standards and produced according to international standards. Fire extinguishing hydrant which is enabled in case of failure as a result of first intervention in fire zone; performs the task of water squirting all over the area while in rotating position.
Fire extinguishing hydrant; is an equipment which is mandatory in settlement places with a zoning plan area over 500 square meters and containing all kind of usage area inside. The presence in these kind of places has been made compulsory as an exterior hydrant system.
The intervals between the hydrants must be at a certain distance because of there are multiple hydrants. The hydrants needed to be at closer positions in regions posing highest danger; can be positioned more remotely as long as the danger possibility decreases.
The distance is determined as 50 meters for very high danger zones, 100 meters for high danger zones, and 125 meters for medium danger zones and 150 meters for low danger zones. In this way, the positions of hydrants to each other will also have been adjusted.
At the same time, hydrants take their places 5 to 15 meters away from the buildings protected under normal conditions. If a ring system present in pipe fitting is not available in hydrant system; the smallest pipe diameter must also be 100 mm and must be designed in conformity with the hydraulic calculations.
The design flow in hydrant system must be at least 1900 l/min, too. If deemed suitable; the flow may be increased according to the danger class of the building. Besides, 700kPa pressure must be present at the hydrant outlet.
